WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

A scheduled speaker leads the study in a topic of their choice. There is group participation through the reading of Bible references aloud. The study also includes a time for discussion, and is concluded with a prayer and hymn.

The strong Filipino presence at Hillcrest Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has enriched the diversity of the Hillcrest congregation. In gathering together, they’ve been able to share and embrace the Filipino culture with one another, the rest of the congregation, and the community.

WHEN DOES THE GROUP MEET?

The Filipino Bible Study group most often meets during the first Sunday of the month in the basement (Stainton Hall) after the morning worship service. Some months the scheduled Sunday changes. The group does not meet in July or August.

Check the Hillcrest Calendar for final dates.

WHAT LANGUAGE IS SPOKEN FOR THE BIBLE STUDY?

The Bible study is primarily lead in Tagalog, using a Tagalog Bible and hymn book. English Bibles are also available.

WHO CAN COME?

Anyone is welcome to join to experience and learn more about the Filipino culture all while learning about our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

ARE THERE SPECIAL EVENTS?

During special cultural occasions, such as the Philippine Independence Day, the Filipino Bible Study group holds a display and presentation of historical facts and customs in the Hutchison Parlour. During the Christmas season, a traditional Filipino potluck is held where classic Filipino dishes, festive music, and decorations come together to transform Stainton Hall.
